Hobart Airport Terminal Expansion

Hobart Airport, the major gateway to Tasmania, is experiencing significant passenger growth, with numbers expected to reach 3.5 million by 2030. To accommodate this growth and enhance passenger experience, a $200
million terminal upgrade has been initiated. The project includes doubling the terminal footprint, expanding seating capacity, creating a new arrivals corridor, upgrading security facilities, increasing boarding gate numbers, introducing new food and retail options, and improving baggage reclaim and car rental services. Work is set to commence in 2024, with completion targeted for early 2027, with minimal disruption to airport operations.

The Tas Water Macquarie Point Sewer Pump Station project is an integral component of TasWater’s initiative to close the Macquarie Point Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP). The proposal involves the construction and operation of a new sewage pumping station at Macquarie Point, redirecting sewage flows to an upgraded Selfs Point WWTP. This project is essential for the Macquarie Point Development Corporation (MPDC) to advance the State Government’s redevelopment plans for the site. Additionally, it will contribute to enhanced water quality in the River Derwent by facilitating improved sewage treatment.

Metro Tunnel

The Metro Tunnel project is set to revolutionise Melbourne’s public transportation system by establishing a new end-to-end rail line stretching from Sunbury in the west to Cranbourne/Pakenham in the southeast. The project includes the introduction of larger and more modern trains and
the construction of five new stations along the route. Advanced signalling technology will enable turn-up-and-go services during peak hours, enhancing commuter convenience. With testing currently in progress, the Metro Tunnel is scheduled to commence operations in 2025.
